What do valves have to do with people's health? Those who answer “nothing” are sadly mistaken. Because some diseases with an impact on the community can be avoided by paying greater attention to hygiene rules.
This is the case with Legionella, a lung infection caused by the bacterium Legionella pneumophila, which thrives in water, and which is transmitted to humans by inhaling contaminated liquid particles.

Legionella bacteria are not only found in nature, but also in all systems and technological treatments that involve moderate heating of water and its vaporisation: these include air conditioning systems, cooling towers, swimming pools, vaporisers, filters and also water distribution systems where ball valves are installed. Water stagnation and the presence of biofilms, facilitated by deposits within the systems, are the main risk factors that contribute to the proliferation of Legionella.
Nevertheless, the careful selection of a suitable product can help to control, manage and prevent this risk, thereby safeguarding our health.

Among the products that come to our aid are our RuB ball valves s.84W, s.84W M/F, s.50 and s.51.
The sizes ¾” to 2” in the s.84W, s.84W M/F models and sizes from ½” to 2” in the s.50 and s.51 models are fitted with a uniquely designed ball, which has a third hole known as the rinse hole.
Water, as it passes through, generates a rotational movement, thoroughly rinsing the ball and thereby effectively preventing any stagnation that may contribute to the proliferation of bacteria.
Completing the Legionella prevention proposals, Bonomi Industries offers an implemented solution with its RuB s.65 actuated ball valve coupled with a range of pneumatic and electric actuators.

Ensuring the safety and quality of water is a vital issue that requires the commitment and cooperation of all.
With its ball valves, Bonomi Industries attempts to address this problem in a practical manner.
